Is Bush borrowing from Peter to pay Paul?

Published by Gayla at 8:44 pm under Politics

I just don’t get how this whole ‘stimulous‘ plan is going to make us any better off. Anyone care to explain?

It just seems like our government is borrowing from Peter to pay Paul which doesn’t improve the financial status, it only shifts the emphasis a bit.

    Gayla,
I think the whole idea is to make us feel like we have more money. Many Americans will spend that tax cut windfall four or five times before they even have it in their hands, which will boost the economy. (We shouldn’t eat out today, but we are getting that money from the government. I shouldn’t get those highlights, but…I shouldn’t buy that new tv, but she got those highlights and I should get to spend some of it on myself, too…) Of course, it will also boost their credit card balances. It is a temporary fix for the economy and will leave many Americans, as well as the government, in a worse financial position in the future.

Katelyn – that’s what I thought. I was hoping I was missing something. I can’t believe they are acting like this is such a brilliant idea and that people are actually falling for it.

    Sad!
