The girls in a cat fight

I never understood the bond between some people and their pets until I’d fallen in love with my own dog, Maggie.
Maggie (the little white and brown Jack Russell mix) is a real mama’s girl and the smallest of the three dogs in our family.
Tonight Miss Maggie and the Basset Hound, Rosie got into a bit of a cat fight over a chew toy. Maggie wound up getting a nasty bite to her mouth and is about to lose a tooth because of it. She’s bled out quite a bit and is now sick at her stomach because of it.
Maggie seems to have found comfort in curling up at my feet while breaking my heart every time she looks up at me with those sad, brilliant blue eyes.
Being the worrysome mother type that I am, I called our Vet’s assistant at home who helped put my mind at ease knowing that my dog won’t bleed to death from this and that her being sick at her stomach is actually a good thing.
Maggie is resting peacefully at the moment and as she rests, I realize that people who love their pets enough to dress them up or to spoil them a bit like children aren’t as strange as I once thought.
