Colon Cancer Prevention

In recent studies it has been found that individuals who are susceptible to colon cancer are less likely to develop the disease if they follow a diet rich in calcium. Calcium seems to reduce the irritant effects of bile acids and fatty acids in the colon, when left unchecked these acids can cause abnormal cell growth.

Some major sources of calcium are broccoli,  brazil nuts, peanuts, avocados, almonds, mangoes, broccoli, bok choy, amaranth, yogurt, kale, soybeans, salmon, milk, tofu, cheese,  beans, and sunflower seeds.

Try packing some of these foods for snacks, in your children’s school lunches. Take some to work you will find that they are a pleasant change from the vending machines.
