Not taking chances with my vote

indiana-county-map With having moved since the last election and watching just how important the Indiana primary is becoming, I took a couple of minutes to call my county voter registration office to confirm I had done everything necessary to make sure my vote counts.

If you are in Indiana and have any questions at all about your eligibility to vote, you can find your county office numbers, make a quick call to make sure.

Don’t waste your vote!

And when pondering your vote, consider the candidates — Seriously consider them!

Are you bitter?

Is there a difference between Patriotism and Trivial?

Will you vote for a candidate that won’t sing the anthem?  Who won’t say the pledge? or who won’t wear an American Flag pen? - Because they are all trivial.

That’s not rumor folks, that was his words, from his mouth in an interview within the last couple of weeks.

Will you vote like the bitter person one candidate thinks you are?

Or will you vote for someone who is familiar?

You decide.

You’re a lying sack of crap.

He most certainly did not say anything of the sort.

There are several examples of his behavior and he did call these examples “Trivial” - You are welcome to believe what you want, but he’ll never make it to the White House - Hillary supporters will vote McCain before they vote Obama.

I don’t know who you support, and I won’t suggest — but I WILL say that I like that you took the time to check it out. Good for you!

The flag pin is trivial and it has become so because it is worn by any pol or hack that thinks they can gain your approval by simply wearing one. Doesn’t matter that they may ignore and violate the concepts the nation is built upon. “But they have a pin! Look, they have a pin! It’s OK now. Trust her. PLEEEEASE…”

Why would you choose to be fooled by that. Obama simply says he will not trivialize the FLAG and the NATION FOR WHICH IT STANDS by slapping a pin on his lapel in a moronic attempt to fool fellow citizens regarding my intentions. Instead judge him by his actions.

You would do well to listen to ” Your Flag Decal Won’t Get You Into Heaven Anymore” by John Prine.

You need to cite your sources regarding his saying of the pledge or singing the national anthem. Of course you can’t because it is not true.

Regarding Hillary supporters voting McCain instead of Obama, A) I don’t believe come voting time you will actually see those poll questions come to reality and B) if it does happen that way it proves we get the government we deserve. To say nothing about what that says about Hillary supporters.

Cite your sources and refrain from regurgitating lies. You ignorance is showing.

      Here I’ll help…

Your Flag Decal Won’t Get You Into Heaven Anymore
      © John Prine

      While digesting Reader’s Digest
In the back of a dirty book store,
A plastic flag, with gum on the back,
      Fell out on the floor.
Well, I picked it up and I ran outside
Slapped it on my window shield,
And if I could see old Betsy Ross
I’d tell her how good I feel.

      Chorus:
But your flag decal won’t get you
      Into Heaven any more.
      They’re already overcrowded
      From your dirty little war.
      Now Jesus don’t like killin’
No matter what the reason’s for,
And your flag decal won’t get you
      Into Heaven any more.

Well, I went to the bank this morning
And the cashier he said to me,
“If you join the Christmas club
We’ll give you ten of them flags for free.”
      Well, I didn’t mess around a bit
I took him up on what he said.
And I stuck them stickers all over my car
And one on my wife’s forehead.

      Repeat Chorus:

Well, I got my window shield so filled
      With flags I couldn’t see.
So, I ran the car upside a curb
      And right into a tree.
By the time they got a doctor down
      I was already dead.
And I’ll never understand why the man
Standing in the Pearly Gates said…

“But your flag decal won’t get you
      Into Heaven any more.
      We’re already overcrowded
      From your dirty little war.
      Now Jesus don’t like killin’
No matter what the reason’s for,
And your flag decal won’t get you
      Into Heaven any more.”

Many were discussing the whole “trivial” issues.

I saw the interview where he mentioned it being trivial.

I’ve gotta run - much better things to do with my time then defend my position.

      BWAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!

      Holly crapolla. This is rich.

“I’ve gotta run - much better things to do with my time then defend my position.”

      Yeah, I’ll bet.

Did you even read the article you linked to in your citation #1? It pretty much says you’re wrong.

As far as link #2, what is that supposed to be? It has nothing to do with your assertion that Obama won’t sing the national anthem, say the pledge of allegiance, or wear a flag pin.

Peace be with you and I have a little twang of guilt for being hard on you. Didn’t realize what I was talking to.

      Fight the good fight!

    8. Gayla on April 25th, 2008 11:19 pm

As the wife of a veteran who fought for our flag - I will stand firm in my belief that our flag is much more than trivial - it is one of the highest levels of symbolism anywhere. My husband fought for our flag, our country and your right to your opinion.

      What about that is trivial?

If for no other reason, the person who aspires to become our commander and chief should have a bit more respect for our soldiers and the lives they are placing on the line each and every day.

Obviously I’m not the only one who believes this way:

No one said THE FLAG was trivial.

I am saying and Obama says the issue is the fact of his wearing one or not IS TRIVIAL. You are being deliberately obtuse if you refuse to understand the difference between those two ideas. Obama is trying to put MORE respect back into the flag or at least not add to the cheapening of it.

Do you honestly think the man running for president wouldn’t simply stick one on his lapel if he didn’t think he had a very good reason for not doing so? Do you really think it wouldn’t have been easier for him to simply start wearing one a couple years ago and avoid this issue? Do you not think he is smart enough to know this was going to lead to some questions?

Didn’t your mother or father ever have a “special” plate she served the turkey on or an important desert or dish they only made on special occasions? If they had served you your mac and cheese on the ’special’ plate or made the same ‘important’ dish for you every Friday would they would lose their ’special’ quality or in other words their ’significance’ and ‘meaning’?

Pols who wear the flag on their pin are serving mac and cheese on the special plate. It becomes ubiquitous in politics and as such loses its meaning.

Obama is simply saying what many people can understand immediately, if you over use a symbol you dilute the symbol. Obama has stated repeatedly that he reveres and honors the flag and does not want to participate in the cheapening of it by using it as a piece of costume jewelry and most politicians do.

The reasons most politicians DO wear the flag is because it’s effective. They can do horrible and destructive things and instead of becoming enraged at their actions you see a flag pin flapping on their lapel and your eyes glaze over and you think of your husband the vet, or a father, mother, sister, brother, friend, apple pie and baseball and your brain gets all fuzzy and you forget you’ve just been wronged. You confuse your government for your country and the politician for the flag he wears instead of the person they are. They co-op the ‘brand’ of America and steal it for themselves. After your husband does all the work some pol brads himself with a symbol and steals his sacrifice.

I’m going to assume you didn’t place your ‘wife of a vet’ line in there to imply that your opinion had any more weight that mine did because you have no idea what my family has sacrificed for this country. Regardless, I thank your husband for his sacrifice and you for yours.

Finally, I must make two comments on your link. Simply seeing Family Security Matters in the URL let me know it was an link I could safely ignore. Family Security Matters is nothing more than a pro-war, right-wing think tank set up to push the ‘Use-America’s-military-power-to-push-policy’ agenda. You should do more research when siting sources.

Not to mention the article you link two is talking about the one picture that generated all the talk depicting Obama having NOT AT THAT VERY MOMENT raised his hand for the national anthem. The real comedy lies in the fact that your very first link, remember the one you placed a few comments ago, the one that was supposed to support your accusation regarding Obama not holding his hand to his heat was an indication of that fact he wasn’t sufficiently patriotic but which in fact made exactly the opposite claim that it was a non-issue thereby undermining your own argument? Remember that link? Well, that link is referring to the exact same picture you just linked to in your last comment. It is quite possibly that first time I have had a discussion with someone who PROACTIVELY countered and destroyed their own argument.

Be wary of the echo chamber; it can make mountains out of mole hills.

    Got something to say?
