Suicides Shock Community

I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world Vancouver Island. We were all shocked last week when three young people took their lives.

Authorities thought at first this had to be a suicide pact, but the deaths appear to be unrelated. While investigating the deaths of the three young men 15, 18, 20 there seemed to be no evidence found as yet linking the three.

Vancouver Island is as large as some states in the U.S. but I was shocked to learn that on average there are two suicides per week here.

We have to learn to recognize when our loved ones are in trouble and find help for them. My heart breaks for our young people today they have so much more to contend with then the generations of the past.

Obama’s Six Degrees Scares the Hell Out of Me

Farrakhan Barack Obama’s longtime minister, mentor, and sounding board has been a key supporter of Louis Farrakhan and last month honored the Nation of Islam leader for lifetime achievement.

Farrakhan has repeatedly made hate-filled statements targeting Jews, whites, America, and homosexuals. He has called whites “blue-eyed devils” and the “anti-Christ.” He has described Jews as “bloodsuckers” who control the government, the media, and some black organizations.

“Do you know some of these satanic Jews have taken over BET [the Black Entertainment Network]?” Farrakhan said in a speech on Nov. 11, 2007. “Everything that we built, they have. The mind of Satan now is running the record industry, movie industry, and television. And they make us look like we’re the murderers; we look like we’re the gangsters, but we’re punk stuff.”

The month after that speech, Obama’s minister and friend, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. and his Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, honored Farrakhan at a gala, bestowing on him its Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Lifetime Achievement Trumpeteer award.   Continue reading…

*** My thoughts ***

From early in life, we try to teach our kids that when you run with the wrong crowd, most times you’ll be considered a part of that crowd — even if you don’t agree with or participate in many of the things they do.

Given the LONG history of Obama with Jeremiah Wright - doesn’t it seem funny that a politician with an eye on the White House would not take the time to remove himself from such harmful situations?

When you lay down with the pigs you come up smelling like them.

I’m not sure there’s enough substance in the public denouncements to make me believe Obama still isn’t in thick with the likes of Wright and even more terrifying, the likes of Farrakhan.

What if Obama was actually viewed as…

Half black and half white?  What IF people would recognize him as the best of their own race/gender and built on that. (and don’t shoot me for using the word “best” it’s just a word to get a point across).

I’ve seen SO many celebrities and leaders, many of whom I truly admire, coming out and endorsing Obama.

The last couple of days has left me wondering - WHAT Am I missing?

I’m asking because I want to see what everyone else sees!

I don’t want a Reverend Wright wannabe trying to cram him down my throat - I am just saying that it’s time I start looking at the other two possible’s for the November election.

Can you tell me what you see in Obama?

Could it take this man - this half black, half white man to create some sort of bridge between two races that have been divided for hundreds of years?

I’m not saying I AM changing my mind!  I’m not saying I will — what I am saying is that I am open to the possibilities.

When it’s White it’s Racism When it’s Black it’s…

Andrew Sullivan has pointed out - like SO many others, that some comments made by the Hillary Clinton camp are considered racist.

“I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on,” she said in an interview with USA TODAY. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article “that found how Sen. Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.”

So why is it that when the Obama camp boasts about taking in 92% of the Afro-American vote - nothing is said except maybe umm “congrats”?

Let’s face it!  There is a tremendous racial divide in this election!  There is a tremendous gender based divide in this election and if you’re going to call one racist, you must call BOTH racist!

That’s like saying it’s ok for gangsta rappers to say the N word but not a white rapper.

  • If people want to be created equal they must first begin acting as an equal.
  • Lead by example - don’t demand change if you only plan to follow.

And if you don’t want to act equal or lead by example… This one’s for you!

Three Teen Boy’s

I am so glad that I am the Grammy at this point when it comes to the boys. I have always told Gayla things come back to bite you, but times three is a little much. LOL I can’t wait for the daily episode.

You would think that by now the boys would know that it is useless to try and outsmart mom. You should never spill your guts on the cell phone, or computer when you have a mom like Gayla. I seem to be learning more then I would like about the boys escapades.

I get the late evening call from their bedrooms telling me that mom just takes things the wrong way. Or the one I love is, mom is old-fashioned and doesn’t understand. I am truly loving this.

I wouldn’t trade places with Gayla for anything - three boys with raging hormones and Rusty that still thinks men rule the earth. LOL Now you know why all her dogs are female.

Where ARE the rules? An Indiana Voting Experience

ivotedsticker As a fairly new voter - this being my third voting experience and second Presidential voting experience, I was unaware of the “rule” that you are not permitted to wear attire of any kind that supports your candidate.

I’ve searched high and low and have yet to find the “rule” that applies to voters.  What I have found is the rules as they apply to soliciting and exit polls citing the distance they must remain from the polling stations.

I make a habit to read everything - especially when it pertains to my vote and I’ve never received anything that states such a rule either.

Today I went to vote.  When you walk in to sign in, you’re given a piece of paper that labels you Democrat or Republican.  What does it matter if you’ve gone the step further to show your support?  I just don’t get that?

Perhaps I would have taken the instruction a bit easier had the person who called me out NOT been a Democrat - had he NOT been a Republican in a county that’s dominated by Republicans and has only a handful of candidates running on the Democratic ticket — had he NOT been a friend of a side of the family I currently have conflict with and had he NOT treated me so poorly and made such a spectacle of my ignorance.

In a loud and controlling tone, the man informed me that I would have to “go to the restroom and turn my shirt wrong side out or leave the premises immediately.”

I looked at him, dumbfounded I’m sure and asked why I was not made aware of that rule?  Where was that “rule” in all the voting material I’d received?  Where was that “rule” on the voter registration website?  Well, I’ve spend a great deal of time trying to find that “rule” and have yet to find anything on a rule as such that pertains to actual “voters” and not campaign volunteers, police or exit poll personnel.

I phoned my mother - she knew nothing of this “rule.”  She phoned my aunt who knew of the rule had only heard it, never read it anywhere.

I’ve heard of several cases of this happening already in Indiana.  Young voters are not aware of old rules and I think it’s time that our voter registration office realize that old unspoken rules aren’t always recognized by the upcoming generations.

I did phone the local county voter registration office in New Castle, Indiana - but it became painfully obvious that nothing was going to be done to reprimand or even instruct a Republican Clerk to act in any other way.  I told the guy I realized nothing would be done and told him to forget my call - I’d be calling the state offices to report my experience.

I did!

After that I phoned the Hillary Clinton Indiana Headquarters.  I gave them my story - the verified that such a “rule” does exist but could not tell me where to find this “rule.”  Once they took my information, they phoned back a bit later and gave me a number for an office in Arlington, Virginia that tracks harassments and voting issues to see if these are isolated cases or if there’s a trend.

I do hope they are able to recognize the trend of domineering Republicans in Henry County.  It’s easy to see why my grandfather always took such issue with Republicans when I was growing up.

In case you are wondering, I did turn my shirt wrong side out.  I cast my vote and then when I got in my truck, I took my shirt off - in front of God and everybody and turned it right side out.

I guess when it comes to my political stance, I do take things a little too seriously.  But when you’ve been through the hell that my family has - during the current administration - your blood pressure is bound to wager on the high side.

I’m so sick of the strong-arming of area Republicans because they vote purely on the abortion issue.  It doesn’t matter what damage a candidate causes to the U.S. so long as they don’t believe in abortion.

Good position huh?

Bullies Kill

If you haven’t read about the beating that a (Special Ed) student received on the school bus I want to tell you a little about it. Evidently a 17 year old thought it was cool to beat a student that could not defend himself, while others were videotaping the unprovoked attack.

When the bus driver tried to stop the attack, the students that were taping the beating pushed the driver aside.

The young man suffered a concussion, chipped teeth, and problems with his jaw.

The student accused of the assault has been suspended.

I want to know is that all ! He gets suspended?

Just so you know why I am so angry, my son was beaten on a school bus and had a massive cerebral hemorrhage the next morning, and died 16 days later. Tony never regained conciseness. Gayla, or I never had the chance to say good by, or for him to hear us say I love you.

Tony had a kidney diseases and this caused him to be on medication that in turn causes extreme weight gain. Everyone loved him; he was a gentle soul without a mean bone in his body. He did not always get to go to school, because of spending a lot of time in the hospital.

For a year before the beating he was in remission and was thrilled because he thought was normal, and could go to school like everyone else. He new his limitations and followed them.

The bully grabbed him up out of his seat and started to beat him, because he was (FAT ) Tony fell back into his seat when the bully turned a class ring around, and beat him unmercifully in the back of his head.

Other students tried to stop the bully to no avail. The bus driver said he could not police everyone on the bus therefore my son is dead.

If you have a child that bullies please do something to stop them. If your child is suffering the effects of a bully please do something before you to lose a child.

What’s so bad about universal healthcare?

Call me stupid.  Call me blond.  Call me politically challenged or whatever you prefer - but I can’t for the life of me figure out what’s so wrong with the idea of having a government ran healthcare.

Isn’t medicaid and medicare government ran?

Don’t our government officials have healthcare that’s overseen by the federal employees?

If it’s easy enough to provide healthcare to the very poor, the older people and the government employees - what’s so wrong with providing it to every U.S. citizen?

Or is it just the fear of pissing off lobbyists and losing that extra bit of income from our government officials pimping themselves out?

I just don’t get it!

Hillary in Canada

In BC Canada I find myself watching CNN and Fox a lot lately. I also find that more now then ever I am ask what candidate I prefer. Eight out of ten that ask this question say that they want Hillary to win. Their comments always go back to when Bill was in office, and the economy was so much better not only for the US, but for Canada as well.

Nine years ago the American dollar was worth $1.60 to the Canadian dollar. Now it is worth $.98 and has been lower. All of this affects Canada as well.

Everyone is worried about the government running the medical. Well could it get any worse 47,000,000 without insurance? Your mailman, government officials, police, and others are already on this kind of insurance. Why not you?

In BC my husband and I pay a total of $96 per month that covers us when we go to a doctor, or specialist. I had cataracts removed about a month ago, no charge out of pocket.

My husband is a duel citizen both US , Canada- born in Canada. I am American with permanent resident status in Canada.

I am concerned for my son, and daughter and their families living in the US. They can not afford the medical they need, and with dollar in decline it is getting hard to keep their heads above water.

Please think hard before you decide where to place your vote.
