Job Angels – A Grassroots Movement to Get People Back to Work
There are those who sit by and watch the world go by and there are those who get out there and do something about it.
Sometimes the universe, God or your deepest psyche will speak to you at the strangest times with an idea that’s utterly brilliant. If the voice speaks to you, would you hear it? Would you recognize it? And even more, would you follow it?
The idea of JobAngels was born the morning of January 29. In it’s first twelve days over 1,500 individual JobAngels were assembled across Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Over 10,000 JobAngel messages were sent across a myriad of online platforms. Angels donated their time, their networks, their expertise and their hearts to this grassroots initiative – and that was just the beginning.
If you are interested in helping a job seeker find employment, help can come in many forms even if it’s as simple as spreading word among your network regarding the seekers career interests and an array of other ways you may not be aware of. What can you do to help to put people back to work? Do you have it in your heart to be a JobAngel?
Everyone can be crucial to the makeup of this grassroots movement and what better effort to be a part of at this particular time than helping people work?
Here’s where you can begin:
- Twitter – Follow @jobangels and search the #jobangels for work opportunities or people in need of their own JobAngel
- Facebook – JobAngels on Facebook
- LinkedIn – JobAngels Group
If nothing else, help spread the word through your own network of friends and acquaintances.
As a soon-to-be unemployed internet professional, this is not only my call for the assistance of JobAngels, but my effort to help pay forward what they are providing me.
It’s been a long time since I’ve found myself in the position of ‘unemployed’ but I can’t help but think bigger and better things are coming my way. This girl can dream!
