Why is it that every time CNN or any other news broadcast has anything to say about Canadian health care it is always negative?

Each province has their individual health care system, so I am speaking for the health care in British Columbia.

I live on Vancouver Island, B.C. true there are waiting times for some appointments and testing, but if there is an emergency it will be taken care of.

I had surgery on my back in January and had the best of care. I suffered in silence for years before coming to live in Canada thinking that the pain would get better when it didn’t I was sent to see a specialist in Victoria I had the surgery now I feel great. The surgery did not put us thousands of dollars in debt and I go back for follow up’s.

I also was sent to the emergency room one evening by a nurse that is on call 24 hours a day; she thought that I might be having a heart attack. When I arrived at the hospital they took me in immediately, a doctor was there to treat me and ordered blood work and an EEG. I was at the hospital until all the results were in at 3 in the morning when I found that what I experienced was an Acid Reflux attack. Once again no out of pocket cost.

When was the last time you received a notice in the mail that you were due for a mammogram at no cost? I just received my notice. The doctors here use testing as a form of preventive health care.

I am not saying that there aren’t problems, but I feel a great relief knowing that my husband and I can see a doctor or go into the hospital without having to file bankruptcy.

A very small amount is taken from our checking account each to cover or health care. You can also have private health care if you wish to pay for it.

Check out the wonderful research that is ongoing in Canada for heart disease and cancer, you will see that Canada is as advanced as the United States in these fields.

I guess the question is do you want the peace of mind that you and your family can have when sickness arises?

Our taxes are higher in Canada, but this helps to cover everyone’s health care and well as other things. When we were in the states the cost of health insurance for my husband and myself was around $1200 per month. For this amount your coverage was 80-20 policy, with no coverage for anything pre-existing, which was a laugh who does not have something preexisting?

What I am trying to say is weight the your options before you make up your mind and then call your State Representatives and give them your opinion.
