The Right to Choose!

Published by Gayla at 7:00 am under Politics

As I set and watch channels such as CNN and MSNBC I see the media and our nation segregating us into a world divided based on the party we support.

When I look around within my own life I see my friends and family all of whom have their own opinions and steadfast beliefs in either party. Does that make me love them any less? No! Does that make me want to get a clear understanding of why they choose the party they support? Yes!

As I have talked to several people I can honestly see why they believe the way they do.

I have a Very dear friend whose father was a lifelong military man. Her emotional ties to the party she chooses is based on the terror situation and on the ongoing war on terror. When speaking to friends who live in Michigan, Ohio or Indiana, most are waging their vote on the promise of a better economy. This decision comes from having to visit the supermarket and choose Mac & Cheese over Fresh Lean Ground Chuck.

Some are stand fast on their political position based on the pro-life versus pro-choice issue, some on the promise of a lowered deficit, some believe in the promise of better education, tax cuts, etc.

Regardless of how one chooses which party or candidate they believe in, I think it’s important to realize one very important aspect, that being our right to choose! We have an amazing privilege to choose our nations leader which is something that so many other countries do not have the luxury of.
