Solid proof - when it’s time to go, it’s time to GO!

There have been some pretty strange tales of accidents lately.  Some with survivors, some not.

I believe comparing these two stories provides all the proof we need that when it’s time to go, well, there’s not a dagummed thing you can do about it!

Bee Bite Rub It With Onion

Relief from pesky mosquito bites that drive you crazy when cooking out, just rub an

onion on the bite for instant relief. The anti- inflammatory powers of the onion are so

powerful that doctors recommend them for those that suffer with asthma. Vapors from

the onions will help you breathe freely.

The Wonders of Honey

Before the introduction of antibiotics in the 1940s you could find honey in the doctors’ bags.Honey was used for just about everything from coughs caused by colds, to allergies. Doctors are bringing it back when other medicines have failed to cure skin wounds.

Honey contains three ingredients that are ideal for treating wounds. One is a high sugar content, it will absorb most of the moisture in the wounds, this makes it hard for bacteria to survive.Hydrogen peroxide is also found in large amounts in your honey jar, the same as you find in most medicine cabinets. Honey also contains a compound call propolis, this compound kills Bacteria.

In a laboratory study honey was smeared on seven types of bacteria that cause infection, all seven types were effectively killed.

Fight Heart Disease

A major study with Seven Day Adventists, researchers found that when they snacked on nuts at least four times a week, they cut their risk of fatal heart attack almost in half. Nuts are a great natural way to help your body fight heart disease.
When you or your children find the need for a snack grab a hand full of nuts. Fiber is great for lowing cholesterol and preventing it from sticking to artery walls.

The politics of Happy Feet

I know, I’m a little later to the party - but it’s free movie channel week on Directv and I’ve finally seen the movie that so many mom’s-to-tot’s have complained about.

Over the holidays, I had a relative that pissed and moaned for a flippin’ hour over this adorable movie about penguins.

Lately I’ve been reading a book called "Handling Difficult People - An Operator’s Manual" that I picked up at Border’s Books recently.  I can’t be certain, but it seems as though the book were written about some members of my family.

The "Constant Complainer" is the type of person that can take an adorable movie that attempts to teach kids valuable messages on the topics of animal rights, environmental issues, religion, discrimination.  What’s wrong with that?  What’s wrong with teaching kids, by getting down to their level, the importance of these issues?  Perhaps if more people wouldn’t bitch about the politics of Happy Feet and share it with their children in a manner that’s educational and purposeful - we could put a big dent in many of the issues that are spinning out of control with the next generation or two.

I’d much rather sit down and watch Happy Feet with my kids then Fantastic Four or Jackass.

Grandma’s Fix for Depression during Recession

If you all have been following the news and getting more depressed by the day, due to the economy imagine how our children feel. With the cost of gasoline, groceries, and housing it is hard to realize how families can make ends meet.  Add to the mix two or more children with school lunches, and supplies  and oh yes, the never-ending clothing expense.  Children have a habit of eating everything in site, and growing at least one size per-day. All of this plus what is on the news every evening is a part of a young families life.

As grandparents living on fixed incomes there is little most of us can do to help in the finance area but we can offer to take the children for a weekend, and give the mom and dad some alone time.

For birthdays and holidays maybe give gift certificates for restaurants that mom and dad like. This should bring a smile to their face and joy to our lives - in a world that is otherwise hectic, chaotic and sometimes downright depressing.

The fate of a crooked coach

Indiana University Coach Kelvin Sampson

Indiana University athletic director Rick Greenspan met with basketball players late Thursday at Assembly Hall, but it’s not known whether he revealed the fate of their coach, Kelvin Sampson.

Sampson is accused of knowingly participating in impermissible telephone calls and later of lying to IU and NCAA investigators. Sampson has denied knowingly providing misinformation. The NCAA detailed five major rules violations in the report, and university President Michael McRobbie commissioned Greenspan to do a seven-day investigation.

I’m not sure what I.U. anticipated since Sampson had been in trouble before for the same thing.

I believe that coach Sampson should lose his job and should not be allowed to coach an NCAA team again.  If an attorney were disbarred, they would not be allowed to practice law, right?

Why should this coach be above the rules that he knew existed?

Some students were interviewed and see his offenses as nothing above a "little white lie" but to me a clear impression should be sent to everyone — that you can’t skirt the rules and get away with it.

High Heels = Better Sex = Headache Cure

Headache doctors say sex can cure headaches and Dr. Maria Angela Cerruto, a urologist at the University of Verona, Italy, found that the tippy-toe posture of heels can tone a woman’s abdomen and pelvic floor and potentially improve a woman’s sex life.

Does anyone else besides me find the irony in these studies?  Now, if any of you ladies rush out to buy a new hot pair of heels and wear them the next time you have a migraine that leads to awesome sex and a cure - be sure you report back to us here - m’kay?

Animal-cruelty & meat recall

It’s enough to make this meat & taters kinda girl consider becoming vegetarian.

Have you seen the horrible video footage of what has been going on in this California slaughterhouse?  Not that anything that goes on there is really THAT humane, but com’on - shoving poor crippled cattle around with forklift?

I’d like to take a forklift and shove it up the rear of those who treated these poor animals so badly.

Here’s what I have to say to those who treated these poor animals so badly:

i_love_you_too_girl

They say that children who show no emotion when it comes to killing animals are prone to grow up and become serial killers - what does it say about adults that treat animals this way?

PETA is looking better all the time.
