Strengthen Bones With Salmon
Not only does salmon contain omega-3 fatty acids for a healthy heart it also helps to strengthen your bones. Studies have shown that adding salmon to your diet can lower blood pressure, and cholesterol while helping to prevent disease.
A study that took place at the University of California shows that a higher intake of omega-3 appears to preserve bone density. This will make the bones stronger and protects them against fractures.
If you do not like salmon try some other cold- water fish they also contain omega-3 such as sardines, tuna, and mackerel. People that consume fish found to have omega-3 also are at a lower risk for heart attacks, strokes, and hypertension. Studies on the effect of these fish added to your diet were done at Tufts University.
This is a great time of the year for grilling fish, and making tuna salads, instead of burgers and hot dogs.
Ronald Reagan
I am 63 years old and I can remember well all the republican presidents form Eisenhower until today, believe me when I say that everyone of them have thought only of the rich.
When I turn on the TV and hear everyone holding Ronald Reagan in such high esteem I want to scream. This man was not a president for all people he also gave only to the rich, and gave amnesty to the Mexican illegals taking jobs from hard working Americans. Once again rich businessmen got even richer
We now have a president (Bush) that thinks only of the rich and doesn’t care that he and his friends are getting richer by the day at the expense of the middle class and the lives of our young men dying for their greed of oil.
I can remember my father being off work and standing in the snow cutting up old cars to sell as scrape, and hauling coal from Kentucky to Indiana just to feed his family when Eisenhower was in the white house.
I remember my husband and I both working everyday and all of the over time we could get just to keep our heads above water and try not to lose our farm when Reagan was in power.
Bush1 put my son-in-law into a war that has caused him a number of problems even unto this day.
Now our wonderful president gives the illegals medical care and attorneys while treating our solders with no respect.
I can’t believe that there are people that will elect and republican, can’t they see that our country is going under?
I can not afford to live in my own country because I was hurt on a government job therefore I have a preexisting illness and can not afford insurance.
The middle class pay more in taxes then their employer does. Is this fare?
Please open your eyes before it is to late.
Help Prevent Colon Cancer
University of Arizona research found that men with high levels of selenium are six times less likely to develop colon cancer.
Eating one Brazil nut a day can raise your selenium to the recommended daily level. Research shows eating two brazil nuts daily can lead to other health benefits as well, like enhancing the immune system. Research has also proven that too much of the micronutrient can be toxic therefore you should limit your intake to a handful per day.
A recent study in the American Clinical Journal nutrition shows that 60 volunteers divided into three groups were studied for 12 weeks on the effects of brazil nuts on the human body. One group ate 2 nuts per day, the second group took 100- microgram selenium supplement, the third group took a placebo.
The group eating the brazil nuts selenium level was 64.2%, the selenium supplement groups increase was 61%, and the placebo groups level was 5.3%.
Cauliflower in Your Garden
When planning your garden you may want to make room for cauliflower,this vegetable seems to wage a war against a host of diseases, this includes the big one cancer. Cauliflower is also an excellent source of various vitamins, and minerals to aide in the strengthening the immune system.
Eating just four servings of cruciferous vegetables per week can cut the risk of dying from a medical cause by 26%.
Cauliflower is a vegetable that can be eaten cooked, or raw on a vegetable tray some prefer it with a dip. Either way cauliflower is good for the whole family.
Gardening is a wonderful way to get the whole family involved, children love eating foods they have grown themselves.
Suicides Shock Community
I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world Vancouver Island. We were all shocked last week when three young people took their lives.
Authorities thought at first this had to be a suicide pact, but the deaths appear to be unrelated. While investigating the deaths of the three young men 15, 18, 20 there seemed to be no evidence found as yet linking the three.
Vancouver Island is as large as some states in the U.S. but I was shocked to learn that on average there are two suicides per week here.
We have to learn to recognize when our loved ones are in trouble and find help for them. My heart breaks for our young people today they have so much more to contend with then the generations of the past.
Three Teen Boy’s
I am so glad that I am the Grammy at this point when it comes to the boys. I have always told Gayla things come back to bite you, but times three is a little much. LOL I can’t wait for the daily episode.
You would think that by now the boys would know that it is useless to try and outsmart mom. You should never spill your guts on the cell phone, or computer when you have a mom like Gayla. I seem to be learning more then I would like about the boys escapades.
I get the late evening call from their bedrooms telling me that mom just takes things the wrong way. Or the one I love is, mom is old-fashioned and doesn’t understand. I am truly loving this.
I wouldn’t trade places with Gayla for anything - three boys with raging hormones and Rusty that still thinks men rule the earth. LOL Now you know why all her dogs are female.
Bullies Kill
If you haven’t read about the beating that a (Special Ed) student received on the school bus I want to tell you a little about it. Evidently a 17 year old thought it was cool to beat a student that could not defend himself, while others were videotaping the unprovoked attack.
When the bus driver tried to stop the attack, the students that were taping the beating pushed the driver aside.
The young man suffered a concussion, chipped teeth, and problems with his jaw.
The student accused of the assault has been suspended.
I want to know is that all ! He gets suspended?
Just so you know why I am so angry, my son was beaten on a school bus and had a massive cerebral hemorrhage the next morning, and died 16 days later. Tony never regained conciseness. Gayla, or I never had the chance to say good by, or for him to hear us say I love you.
Tony had a kidney diseases and this caused him to be on medication that in turn causes extreme weight gain. Everyone loved him; he was a gentle soul without a mean bone in his body. He did not always get to go to school, because of spending a lot of time in the hospital.
For a year before the beating he was in remission and was thrilled because he thought was normal, and could go to school like everyone else. He new his limitations and followed them.
The bully grabbed him up out of his seat and started to beat him, because he was (FAT ) Tony fell back into his seat when the bully turned a class ring around, and beat him unmercifully in the back of his head.
Other students tried to stop the bully to no avail. The bus driver said he could not police everyone on the bus therefore my son is dead.
If you have a child that bullies please do something to stop them. If your child is suffering the effects of a bully please do something before you to lose a child.
Hillary in Canada
In BC Canada I find myself watching CNN and Fox a lot lately. I also find that more now then ever I am ask what candidate I prefer. Eight out of ten that ask this question say that they want Hillary to win. Their comments always go back to when Bill was in office, and the economy was so much better not only for the US, but for Canada as well.
Nine years ago the American dollar was worth $1.60 to the Canadian dollar. Now it is worth $.98 and has been lower. All of this affects Canada as well.
Everyone is worried about the government running the medical. Well could it get any worse 47,000,000 without insurance? Your mailman, government officials, police, and others are already on this kind of insurance. Why not you?
In BC my husband and I pay a total of $96 per month that covers us when we go to a doctor, or specialist. I had cataracts removed about a month ago, no charge out of pocket.
My husband is a duel citizen both US , Canada- born in Canada. I am American with permanent resident status in Canada.
I am concerned for my son, and daughter and their families living in the US. They can not afford the medical they need, and with dollar in decline it is getting hard to keep their heads above water.
Please think hard before you decide where to place your vote.
