The following little ditty written by LaMonte M. Fowler has been making its rounds on social media. I took the time to read it, but found myself chuckling at parts and cringing at others. Let me explain… my thoughts are noted in…. below.
I feel the need to drop a little truth on y'all. So buckle up…I'm about to be politically incorrect.
Me: It’s about time we stop pussy-footing around issues, stop worrying about being so politically correct and stand up for what we believe. We are not a country full of whiny nine-year-old little girls who need to be mollycoddled. To me, it’s WRONG to suppress who we are to appease the world around us. When people are losing their jobs for saying “Merry Christmas,” we have taken political correctness MUCH to far!
We don't need to take America back. No one stole it. It's right here…you're sitting in it. Chillax.
Me: Yes, America is right here, the land mass has not changed, but people sure have! And I am not a fan of what MY America has become.
Mexico isn't going to pay for the wall and we're not going to deport millions of people and break up families. If you think either one is a good idea, you're not smart and probably not a person I want to hang out with.
Me: Mexico will have NO choice but to pay for the wall when the money is being deducted from the massive trade deficit we have with Mexico every single year. It’s not a matter of sending Mexico a bill and expecting them to pay – it’s a matter of taking that whole FREE trade agreement and modifying it to be FAIR trade that is as much a benefit to America as it is to Mexico. Right now we are getting our asses handed to us with massive debt and that MUST CHANGE!
We don't live in a democracy. Technically we are a Federal Republic. But in reality we are ruled by an oligarchy. If you don't know what that is, look it up. Reading will do you good. You probably need to do more of it.
Me: Yes, there are a handful of billionaires who run the majority of the country – but anyone who thinks our government can take from them to benefit the citizens of the U.S. is a bit delusional. The loss of profit will be passed on the consumer and we will lose, yet again. Just think about your car insurance. You can go YEARS without an accident. You pay in every month. But, when you have that first claim, your rates go UP or you are cancelled. The same will apply when anyone tries to tax corporate America in attempt to distribute wealth.
FoxNews, CNN, and MSNBC have an agenda and are not “fair and balanced” or in any way unbiased. I'll reiterate…read more. Read newspapers (even online ones). Read lots of opinions and sources and then (stay with me here), THINK! Form your own opinion based on as many facts as your can brain can tolerate.
Speaking of facts…there actually is a difference between facts, opinions, and propaganda. You should learn the difference. (Another opportunity to show off your mad reading skills.)
Me: I do agree with this! In order to be well-informed, you have to consider ALL resources and not give in to one form of media. It is up to US to read, learn and form our own opinions. That’s the SMART thing to do. And that is precisely WHY I am NO LONGER a Democrat!
Science is real. We know things because of science. Don't be afraid of it. You have an iPhone and Facebook because of science. It's your friend.
Global warming or “climate change” as the cool kids call it IS REAL. Anyone who tells you it's not real is not a smart person and probably should not be dressing themselves or caring for children.
Me: I FIRMLY believe something is going on with our climate! It doesn’t even take rocket science to realize that all the pollutants we put into the air, water and soil is a bad thing and likely has a pretty serious impact on the world around us. THIS is a BIG reason I want to see lobby and special interest groups OUT of DC. These poisonous organizations should not be allowed to buy our politicians and rent their blind eyes in their efforts to poison our world. If you want to make our world safe from climate change or from poisonous water, air and soil, getting the BIG money OUT of DC is where we HAVE to start! And that my friends does not take science!
Koch Brothers have been sued MANY times for environmental violations. Do the math!
Racism exists. And you are probably a little racist and should work on that. Seriously.
Me: Racism is always going to exist to some degree. I don’t expect a black woman to feel safe going through a part of town where Confederate Flags are flying anymore than I would feel safe going through a part of town where Black Panthers or gang signs are clearly displayed. That will never be eliminated. As long as our government caters to special interest groups that are based on RACE, there will always be racism.
American Christians are not under attack. We are not being persecuted. We wield so much power in this country that politicians pretend to be Christian just so we will vote for them. No one is trying to take your bible away from you. The gay people are not destroying our families—we don't need any help from them, thank you. We do a fine job of that by ourselves. So stop saying we are persecuted. You sound stupid.
Me: I do agree with this! Politicians are sneaky and will say and do whatever yields the votes. That’s why I REFUSE to vote for a politician when there is CLEARLY a choice that has NEVER been in politics.
Poor people need help. If you're not helping them but complaining about how the government helps them with your money you are not a nice person.
Me: I believe in helping OUR poor American citizens. I live by the philosophy that if you give a man a fish, he eats for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he will eat the rest of his life. It’s one thing to give the poor a helping hand while they LEARN to make it on their own. It’s another to provide government assistance in a manner that makes handouts a viable “career option.”
I believe there should be strict LIMITS placed on the dollar amounts, the length of time and the number of pregnancies that are covered by government assistance. When you INSPIRE a person to do better, they will. If they have two children they cannot afford and require welfare, they should be given the option to continue for an extended period of time, but the price for that should be sterilization.
Men who have multiple children they are not supporting should be given the option to have a vasectomy or face prison time.
There should be consequences for every action and those consequences should NOT be limited to free handouts that inspire people to remain lazy, poor or dependent on government assistance.
Be nice to the people who teach your children. Don't send them nasty emails or yell at them. Their job is 10,000 times harder than your stupid job. You are not a professional educator so just shut your mouth and be thankful someone is willing to teach your offspring.
You don't know what Common Core is. You think you do, but you don't unless you're a teacher. So stop complaining about math problem memes on Facebook. You can't do the math anyway.
Me: I believe one of the most thankless jobs in America is that of a teacher. These are people who have gotten an expensive education and spend their time babysitting OUR kids more hours per day than we do as parents. Teachers deserve a LOT more respect and help from parents than they get. Teach your kids to respect their teachers, even if they don’t agree with them. The day YOU babysit 20+ kids for 8+ hours per day and do a better job than they do, is the day you earn your right to bitch. Until then, shut the hell up and let them do their jobs.
I still think Common Core is a stupid idea and our teachers have enough to deal without adding to the workload they already carry.
ISIS is not an existential threat to the United States. We do not need to rebuild our military. Our military is the strongest, scariest, most badass killing machine the world has ever seen. So stop being afraid and stop letting politicians and pundits scare you.
Me: San Bernardino. Twin Towers. 9-11. Enough said. To get lazy with our military, thinking we have nothing to worry about is opening up the door for more domestic terror attacks. No one wants that to happen. I do however feel we need to STOP being the police and peacekeepers to the world. We cannot and should not be cramming our beliefs down the throats of those who do not want us there.
Guns do in fact kill people. That's what they are designed to do. If you feel you need a gun to protect yourself in America, you are probably living in the wrong neighborhood and should move before you go out and buy a gun. There are like a billion places to live where you won't need a gun, or even need to lock your front door.
Me: Liberals have paved the way for crime to come to small, rural areas right here in the heartland of the U.S. There was a time when I didn’t feel the need to lock my doors, when I didn’t feel the need to lock my car doors while it sits in my drive – but the theft that has gone on around us, the dead body that was found just a couple of miles away, IN the COUNTRY, in a CREEK tells me that my having a gun is a wise decision. There is NO SAFE place anymore. Criminals and drug addicts blame everyone but themselves and they will do anything they have to to feed their addiction or to keep from having to put in a day of hard work to earn a real paycheck.
I’ll keep my gun and one day, you may be thankful to have a pistol packing neighbor to come to your defense.
If you do own a gun, then make sure you know how to use it really, really, really well. Seriously…get some training because you still don't know how to record stuff with your DVR. Go to the gun range and shoot the thing a lot. Learn how to clean it properly and be able to disassemble it and reassemble it with your eyes closed. It's a freaking gun and it deserves that level of care, proficiency and respect. And for God's sake, keep it locked up and away from your kids.
If you are even a little bit crazy, sad, or pissed off…you shouldn't have a gun. And the Founding Fathers would totally agree with me.
Me: Yeah, Okay!
Stop being suspicious of American Muslims. I guarantee the guy sitting next to you in the cubicle at work is probably more of a threat to you than any Muslim. He has to listen to your uninformed ranting day after day and has probably already imagined very colorful and creative ways to end you.
Me: Sometimes it’s just a good idea to be aware, alert and a little suspicious of everyone! Crazy comes in many forms but given that our borders have become SO perforated, and radicalization is occurring over the Internet – it’s stupid to tell people to NOT be suspicious. We don’t live in a world that’s full of unicorns and rainbows. Granted, criminals and monsters come in all shapes and sizes. Jared Fogle is a prime example. It’s impossible to be overly trusting of anyone anymore. With that said, I am still very much against allowing refugees into our country without extensive vetting.
Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and all the rest are ENTERTAINERS! Stop getting your opinions from them. (Here's where that reading thing can really be an advantage.)
Stop sharing Facebook memes that tell me to share or else Jesus won't bless me with a laundry basket full of cash. That's not how prayer works. And I don't want money delivered (even from God) in a laundry basket. Nobody ever washes those things out and they just keep putting nasty dirty clothes in them. Yuck!
We are the United States of America and we can afford to house every homeless veteran, feed every child, and take in every refugee and still have money left over for Starbucks and a bucket of KFC.
Me: When MY son’s, age 23, work 40+ hours per week, pay their own way and are very responsible with their own spending – pay $7,000+ per year in taxes, I have a problem with it. The freebies and government assistance HAS to have limitations. Yes, I see RED when I see and KNOW of people abusing the system because they are too lazy to go to work that 40+ hours per week. If you look for an excuse to NOT work, you will always find one. If you look for an excuse to use MY tax dollars to stay suppressed, you will find one. There are some who genuinely need it – I have NO problem with that. Government assistance should be more difficult to get. Make people work for it! Drug test them. Place limits on it. Make them get an education! Make them be wiser about reproducing kids they cannot afford.
Perhaps it’s time to TAX churches and use THOSE tax dollars to support the benefits provided to those in need.
Unless you can trace your family line back to someone who made deerskin pants look stylish and could field dress a buffalo, you are a descendent of an immigrant. Please stop saying that immigrants are ruining our country. Such comments are like a giant verbal burrito stuffed with historical ignorance, latent racism, and xenophobia all wrapped in a fascist tortilla.
Me: We cannot afford the flood of immigrants coming into this country. Everything has it’s limits. We have reached a capacity that needs attention. Illegal immigrants NEED to GO!
It’s really pretty simple – you want immigrants to keep flooding into this country, then jobs need to stop leaving this country. The FREE trade, NAFTA bullshit needs to be stopped. We should NOT be the only country in the world that has anchor babies! Just because you are born here should not make you a citizen. I have NO problem with people coming here legally. I do have a problem with people committing CRIMES to come here and getting more handouts and benefits than our vets.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again – Democrats have become a party that allows people to stay WEAK, POOR and full of EXCUSES! These are NOT my grandpa’s Democrats and they certainly are NOT mine anymore.
