When my boys were little, there was a children’s book, Guess How Much I Love You, that featured the phrase, “I love you to the moon and back.” To this day, it’s one of those phrases that my boys and I share, often. Mostly by text and when we’re sending our daily good night messages. My boys will soon be 23-year-old young men, but they’ll always be my little boys.
Wednesday, I went to lunch with my cousin Kim. After lunch we hit the local Hobby Lobby so I could pick up some decorations for my All-Holiday-Tree that I decorate for every holiday or season. In the Valentine’s decorations, the first thing that grabbed my attention was a small square that had our special saying on it. I grabbed it up right away.
As soon as I got home, I set it out where I can look at it several times a day as a reminder of something very special I share with my boys and to somehow feel a little closer to them, even though they moved out a couple of years ago.
I’m not the greatest empty-nester at all. I miss my kids. I miss them being little. I miss the hustle and bustle of running them to school, sports or wherever.
Time does go by so very fast. If you are the mother of small children and find you get frustrated a lot, just know that you will miss it when it’s gone.
