Recently I found myself in the middle of a Twitter discussion regarding this New York Times video where apparently reporters have covered Donald Trump's rallies for more than a year. They report that Trump supporters at these events often express their views in angry and provocative ways.
First of all, I'd like to point out they did point out they have covered Trump rallies for MORE than a year and then I'd like to point out that this video is 3 minutes 11 seconds long. So you do the math!
Now, in this discussion, KR asked repeatedly how someone who loves God can support someone who supports the “hate” expressed in the video. In return, I reminded her of the “hate” that had been expressed many times over by Trump protesters that went out of their way to go where they had no business going only to cause trouble.
Of course, like many Hillary and Bernie supporters do, she pointed out that examples such as those in the video did not and do not happen at Bernie or Hillary rallies.
Well of course it doesn't because Trump supporters don't care to take time out of their schedule, take time off WORK or go out of their way to go hear the same political crap from those two that has been spewed by politicians for decades. Trump supporters go to Trump rallies! They don't go looking for trouble.
Of course one can talk until they are blue in the face trying to get the Free Lunch Crowd to see WHY the handful of episodes from INSIDE Trump rallies have occurred, but they'll never get it. More than likely it's because many of them tend to have an inflated sense of entitlement and think they belong wherever the hell they want to go – even if it is to stir up trouble.
I informed KR that I've had SEVERAL friends who have actually attended Trump rallies and they had a VERY different story to tell than the one the New York Times video shows. Remember, that video is 3 minutes and 11 seconds long. Out of HOW many HOURS of rallies?
My friends have all reported the positive, uplifting feeling they got while attending. I am far more inclined to believe the personal experiences of my friends than whatever the media can capture and report.
So back to the question posed by KR – How can anyone who loves God support Donald Trump?
My answer is fairly simple – If I were looking to elect a new minister at my church or a new Sunday school teacher, it's very unlikely that Donald Trump would not be my choice. However, that's not what we are doing, is it? I support Trump and look forward to him being the next President of the United States!
The absolute most defining factor for me supporting Donald Trump is the very fact that SO many within the DC Establishment, on BOTH sides of the isle despise him. To me, that means he MUST be doing something right and they are doing everything in their power to keep him from upsetting their golden apple cart!
