A friend of mine contacted me recently about a little ‘reputation control’ for a ‘dating site’ he does a little contract work for on the side.
I’ve never done much reputation control, but do appreciate a good challenge and an opportunity to learn – so I agreed to do a little digging to see what I could come up with for him.
A little back history on the case
The dating site is one that is in that ‘older man, younger woman’ niche. I won’t say which one, as I don’t have their permission to do so.
The ‘black eye’ comes in the form of a Blogger blog created by a former member. Apparently it now takes 31 posts to get to the center of vindication.
Good to know!
The first thing I noticed when checking this particular blog was the woman’s profile. She has 3 kids, 2 grandchildren and is in her 40's.
Being a woman in her 40’s myself (albeit early 40’s), I could never see myself joining a dating site within this particular niche simply because I don’t care to date men in their 70’s. And that’s likely what I’d end up with, given the law of statistics as they surround these kinds of sites.
In her first post this woman ranted about the undesirable messages she was receiving. Rule #1 of online dating – be prepared to weed through MANY undesirable messages from people who refuse to read your personal ad.
As a result of these particular messages, she began contacting other female members and began recruiting members to participate in a digital lynching of male members.
A list was formed that provided the usernames, real names and information that was obviously privileged or made up by scorned women who weren't ‘pretty enough' to make the cut.
Obviously once the list became known to the dating site owners, the woman’s membership was revoked. And according to blog, she created more memberships, continued the same practices of contacting other female members, adding to the list, posting the list on her blog, blah, blah, blah.
Maybe I’m wrong, but that just screams CA-RAY-ZEE Bitch to me.
Frankly, I don't think the dating site has anything to be overly concerned about because anyone with half a brain can see this ‘list' is an obvious retaliation of one very pissed off, extremely sexually frustrated, can’t handle the aging process, not being good enough to land a rich dude kinda woman.
I'm not sure what some of these women expect when they create a membership on a dating site looking for a rich guy to take care of them – but in my opinion, there's always going to be a hefty price to pay for being a gold digging sellout.
In all fairness, there may be some very nice guys with truly admirable intentions lurking around on there – BUT you’re going to spend a great deal of time trying to find them. Don’t be surprised!
